I've suffered from alopecia for years thinking that I was just born with 'bad' hair. It was embarrassing, frustrating, and painful as a woman to not be able to do anything to stop your hair from falling out. Then I got braids one year. My hair grew like a weed. In 3 months it grew like 6 inches. That had never happened in my life. I maintained it for a few years. Then struggles came again. With that the stress and alopecia. Not being able to be in a place where I could get my hair braided up again hurt. I live in a predominantly white city with little to no access to black hair care products or services. I tried following everything I could find online about black hair care. None of it worked for me. I had given up and accepted that this was it and I'd just wear wigs for the rest of my life. Then I remembered a tip a friend gave me before. Your hair grows more when it's wet. So I started wetting it. And it started growing. I then played around with expensive shampoos and conditioners. Nothing worked until I found Aphogee balancing moisturizer. I threw out all of the rules that you're supposed to follow as a black woman and concentrated on my hair being MY hair and no one else can tell me what or how to deal with it. It's now back falling down my back again. Aphogee Moisturizer is a keeper in my hair routine for life.
