- Children 6 to 12 years of age: 2 teaspoons every 2 hours. For severe coughs, repeat every 20 minutes for first hour, then every 2 hours.
- Children 2 to 5: Half older children's dose.
- Children under 2: Consult a doctor.
- A persistent cough may be a sign of a serious condition.
- If cough persists for more than 1 week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache, consult a physician.
