Thick-It Original Instant Healthcare Food Thickener, Regular Strength- Thick-It brings the joy of eating back to people with swallowing problems - called dysphagia. Easily modifies liquids and pureed foods for people with swallowing disorders.
- When mixed with hot or cold, thick or thin liquids and pureed foods, Thick-It produces any desired consistency quickly, easily and controllably without changing the taste or appearance of the liquids and foods it thickens.
- Thick-It adds 30 calories per 2 tablespoons for nourishment and it is low in sodium.
- It helps prevent dehydration because it does not bind fluids.
- Thick-It is recommended by doctors, speech-language pathologists and dietitians for patients in hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities as well as at home.
- ADA Exchange - 2 Tablespoons of Thick-It:
- 1/2 Fruit Exchange
- 7g Carbohydrates - metabolized like fruit sugar.
- Desired Consistency/Recommended usage per 4 fl oz.
- You may need to adjust the amount of Thick-It needed to suit your requirements:
Nectar Consistency - Liquids: 1-2 tbsp
Nutritional Supplements: 2 tbsp.
Honey Consistency - Liquids: 2-3 tbsp.
Nutritional Supplements: 3 tbsp.
Pudding Consistency - Liquids:3-4 tbsp.
Pureed Foods: 1 tbsp.
Nutritional Supplements: 4 tbsp.
- Slowly add the recommended amount of Thick-It to the liquid.
- Stir briskly with a spoon, fork or whisk until the thickener is disolved or use hand mixer or blender at low speed for no more than 5-10 seconds.
- Do not overmix.
- After mixing, wait approximately 30 seconds for the liquid to thicken.
