Your baby's health depends on carefully following these easy directions. Proper hygiene, handling, and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Failure to follow these directions could result in severe harm. Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby's doctor. Consult your baby's doctor about the formula appropriate for your baby; the need to use cooled, boiled water for mixing; and the need to boil utensils, bottles and nipples in water before use.

  • Wash your hands, surfaces and utensils.
  • Pour desired amount of water into clean bottle (see chart on container).
  • Add Powder; return dry scoop to can.
  • Cap bottle; shake well; attach nipple.
  • Once feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.
  • Storage: Immediately store prepared individual feeding bottles in refrigerator at 35 - 40 degrees F (2-4 degrees C) and use within 24 hours. Store unopened cans at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures. Cover opened can and store in a cool, dry area (not in refrigerator). Use opened can contents within 1 month. Use by Date on Bottom of Can.
  • Never use a microwave oven to warm formula.
  • Serious burns can result.

Twin Mom

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
I have twins who were born at 32 weeks. They were on NeoSure while in the hospital but as they grew they developed stomach issues with gas, spiting up most of what they ate and crying during and after they ate. I was told to keep them on NeoSure by the Dr's even though it was making them sick until I finally couldn't take it any longer and I switched them to Similac Soy. I saw an immediate improvement with the spitting up and over time the gas pains went away. I told my doctor about the change and their weight was montiored very closely up to 6 mo's. They did great on this formula, and had no other health/digestive problems.

Pricey but worth it...

Cons:
My baby had a milk protien allergy which resulted in bloody stools. Alimentum got her on the right track in less than 24 hrs. It can definitely break the pocket book though. Just shop around and try to buy in bulk when you can. We're now to the point where she can handle a little soy formula, so we mix half and half. Cuts on some of the cost anyway... good luck with your little one!
